WHAP ESSAYS


Here we go!!!  Here is your study guide for our quiz on "A Perfect Essay."  I LOVE THIS!!!  

DBQ:

1. Thesis needs to have the groups mentioned.  Do not include the document numbers in your thesis statement.  A thesis can be more than one sentence.
2. You need to use ALL of the documents.
3. You need to show POV in FIVE of the documents.
4. You need to explain 2 missing voices.  In other words, "whose POV would better help to answer this question and why?"

COMPARATIVE

1. Thesis needs to "pick a side."  Are the two things you are comparing more similar to or more different than each other? You must address what you will be comparing in the thesis. Your thesis can be more than 1 sentence.
2.  You must have at least 3 direct comparsions (using comparative words) and then show analysis.
3. Your essay can be "heavier" on one side.

COT
1. Thesis needs to follow the "formula" (you may have to look at that again and memorize it).
2. RULE OF 3---2 changes and one continuity or 2 continuities and one change.
3. You must analyze the changes and continuities.
